Clean the site and ask Google to review the listing on Shopify
Why it matters
Google's Web Risk list flags this site as dangerous (malware, phishing or unwanted software), so browsers and search can show visitors a red warning page. It usually means the site was compromised or is hosting something harmful.
Risky change. A wrong setting here can take your site or your mail offline. Follow the stages in order, test each one, and keep a way back.
The fix
- Shopify hosts the store itself, so the usual cause is something you added. Open the Online Store theme code and look for scripts or snippets you did not write, in theme.liquid and in other templates, and review third-party scripts and customer events.
- Review installed apps and remove those you do not use or do not trust. Review the staff accounts, remove unknown ones and require two-step authentication for the rest, and change your passwords.
- If the listing is for a domain you connected, check where its DNS records point. A record pointing at a server you do not run can serve other content under your name.
- Contact Shopify Support if you find nothing in your own theme and apps, since they can look at the store and platform side.
- Request a review in Google Search Console's Security Issues report once everything is cleaned up. Search Console needs you to verify the domain.
