Remove the nofollow instruction from the homepage on Shopify
Why it matters
A robots meta tag with nofollow tells search engines not to follow the links on the homepage, so they find the rest of the site less easily. It is often a leftover from a staging site.
Staged change. Do this in stages and check each one before the next, so a mistake does not break your site or your mail.
The fix
- Check that it is not deliberate, then look in Online Store, Themes, Edit code, theme.liquid for a robots meta tag containing nofollow, and check apps that add SEO tags.
- Also check Online Store, Preferences for password protection, which hides the store from search engines while it is on.
