Serve security.txt from /.well-known/ on Vercel
Why it matters
RFC 9116 puts the file at /.well-known/security.txt and keeps /security.txt only for older setups. Researchers and tools look in the standard place first.
The fix
- Move the file to public/.well-known/security.txt, or keep it where it is and add a rewrite to vercel.json. Deploy and open https://example.com/.well-known/security.txt.
vercel.json
{ "rewrites": [ { "source": "/.well-known/security.txt", "destination": "/security.txt" } ] }
The examples use example.com. Replace it with your own domain.
