Fix the error status on the homepage on nginx
Why it matters
Google's test saw an error answer (4xx or 5xx) from the homepage, so it may be dropped from search results. The cause is either a real fault on your server or a rule that blocks Google's crawlers.
The fix
- Run nginx -t and read the error log (often /var/log/nginx/error.log) and the access log for the failing request. A 502 or 504 means the upstream app is down or slow.
- Fix the app or the configuration, reload nginx and request the homepage again.
