Point the canonical link at your own domain on Shopify

seo.basics.canonical_offsite · effort: minutes

Why it matters

The homepage names another domain as its original, which tells search engines to show that site instead of yours. It is a common leftover from a staging site or a domain move.

Staged change. Do this in stages and check each one before the next, so a mistake does not break your site or your mail.

The fix

  1. Check that the link is not deliberate, then open Settings, Domains and make sure your main domain is set as primary, because Shopify builds the canonical from it.
  2. Look for a hand-written canonical in theme.liquid (Online Store, Themes, Edit code) or one added by an app, and remove it so the theme's own canonical is used.

Read the documentation (opens in a new tab)

Scan your domain to see whether this applies to you.
