Add a viewport meta tag on WordPress
Why it matters
Without a viewport tag, phones show the page as a tiny desktop layout. Google indexes the mobile version of your site, so a page that is not mobile-ready can rank lower.
The fix
- Active themes from the WordPress directory include the tag. If it is missing, you are probably using an old or custom theme; add the tag inside the head of header.php in a child theme, or switch to a responsive theme.
- Make sure the theme calls wp_head() in the head, so plugins can add their tags too.
