Fix the canonical link on the homepage on WordPress

Why it matters

The canonical address on the homepage is not valid, for example relative, malformed or pointing at a page that does not work. Search engines then ignore it and guess which version to index.

The fix

1. Look at which plugin prints the canonical (your SEO plugin, a theme, or a cache or multilingual plugin). Fix the setting there, such as the homepage canonical field or the site address under Settings, General, and make sure only one source prints it.
